North Queensferry
where we look across the Firth of Forth at the Bridges.
  • the astonishing 1890’s marvel that is the rail bridge
  • the 1960’s road crossing
  • And now the 3rd bridge nearing completion
Dunfermline Abbey and Palace
from 1070 revels in history of Scottish Kings and Queens – The Palace grew out of the post reformation rebuild.
  • Queen Margaret, wife of Malcolm lll, established the ferry crossings that give us North & South Queensferry; wife to 1 king, mother to 3 kings of Scotland and mother to Matilda queen of England. Made a Saint in 1250.
  • Robert the Bruce, whose body is buried here, his heart in Melrose Abbey.
  • Charles 1, beheaded in the English civil war was born here
Town hill Country Park
For the more active visitor, Town hill Country Park with the water-skiing and wakeboarding national facility – Open from April. Or the not so active, a gentle walk among the wonderful flowers and plants of the Abbey Gardens
Lower Largo
A very pretty little seaside village with a great long flat beach
  • It has a fabulous beach for making picnics; lazing about on the sand; or just getting some fresh air in awesome scenery.
  • Statue to the castaway sailor Alexander Selkirk; whose adventures inspired the writing of the book Robinson Crusoe
  • play with the kids and watch the little boats in the harbour
St Andrews
named for the patron saint of Scotland has the ruins of the once magnificent 11th century cathedral and the oldest university 1413 in Scotland,
  • Go up St Rule’s tower and access the spectacular views of the east coast.
  • Great shops and exclusive restaurants
  • Scottish Deer Centre, a great day out for families has an adventure playground, Birds of Prey demonstrations and wildlife like wolf and bear.
